Living alone in a one bedroom flat in Swindon, Jon has had far too much time on his hands to think. In fact to obsess. About almost everything. Jon’s obssessive compulsive personality disorder has seen him arrange the coins in his pockets in ascending size and colour code his bookshelves. It takes him less than 90 seconds to locate a receipt for a pair of shoes he bought in 1997. Over to the filing cabinet and R for receipts, S for shoes.

But Jon doesn’t want to be like this, in fact he would quite like to share his life with someone. But who could that someone be? Someone like himself, a quarrelsome perfectionist only with breasts and less body hair? Absolutely not. But who exactly is Jon looking for and where will he find her? Faced with a loveless future filled with his own peculiar quirks and perfectionism, Jon sets about his search for The One. The question is, will he mind her keeping the knives to the left of the forks in the cutlery drawer or organising the CDs by genre and not alphabetically?

About the author

Jon Richardson is a 28-year-old stand up comedian from Lancaster. His first solo Edinburgh show, concerning his OCD tendencies, was nominated for the Best Newcomer award at the 2007 Edinburgh Festival. His 2009 show about his resulting perfectionsim was nominated in the Best Show category. He lives in Swindon.

    Jon Richardson's book is insightful, witty and selflessly honest. Unlike some personal celebrity tales which can gloss over the surface, Jon makes no bones about getting straight to his personality, warts and all, consistently reminding us of the many things he hates about himself. The narrative of the book simply follows Jon going about his daily routine on a number of consecutive days, describing his day and penning his thoughts. Despite this, the unusual way in which Jon has chosen to live his life, his unwillingness to edit even his most hateful thoughts and the prospect of him finding love made the book compelling. Being a slow reader, I was amazed (and a little disappointed) to finish the book in two days. I guess it was down to the fact that for me the book was very relatable and written with an uncompromising honesty.

    This book is brilliant. It made me love my husband's idiosyncratic behaviour even more. A warm and enjoyable read. If this doesn't flush out the love of his life nothing will! I hope this is the first of many from Jon.

    I love you Jon, you are brilliant. This book really does show people to light, really made me laugh. An example, my mother is a Putter and my father is a Leaver and they work brilliantly, however I am a leaver, so I would gladly be the leaver to your putter Jon. However, I also have a mild case of OCD, so wherever I did leave them, you can bet that they were left incredibly tidy. Brilliant book, a funny and insightful read into the slightly deranged mind of a hilariously neurotic and lovely man. Thoroughly recommended. X x x. Paige Murphy
