April 2004: Dan Mills and his platoon of snipers fly into southern Iraq, part of an infantry battalion sent to win hearts and minds. They were soon fighting for their lives.

Back home we were told they were peacekeeping. But there was no peace to keep. Because within days of arriving in theatre, Mills and his men were caught up in the longest, most sustained fire fight British troops had faced for over fifty years.

Dan Mills served for 24 years as an Infantry Soldier reaching the rank of Warrant Officer Class 2. During his long military career he served on operations in Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. Dan was awarded a 'Mention In Despatches' for Gallantry for his services during The Iraq War. Since leaving the Army in 2010, he has forged a career as a writer and security consultant, amongst other things. Sniper One is his first book.

    As a former soldier who served in Afghanistan this book is so good i have read it about 18 times and i never get sick of reading it. Down to earth and no holds barred account from a soldiers perspective. Well done dan mills.

    As a 15 year old lad I didn't think I'd enjoy this book, but after reading in for 14 days in Tenerife I couldn't put it down! This book is a must buy and will keep your eyes glued for days! Amazing and I recommend this to anyone of any age!

    The author painted a graphic picture of what life is like at the sharp end when fighting an insurgency in very inhospitable climatic conditions. However, for me the book was spoilt by the excessive and unnecessary foul language. I know this is the army in stressful conditions and bad language is expected and being an ex merchant seaman myself I know the reality in life but I thought the bad language in this book was O.T.T..

    Wow what an amazing read I could not put this book down. It makes you realise exactly what it must be like to be a soldier. I kind of wish I had joined the army when I left school. What a band of brothers these men became. Would love another book by this man. Well done to all our armed forces all over the world. You do make a difference
